Teaser Tuesday :: 15 • 01 • 2013

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading and slightly altered by Coffee, Books & Lipgloss

Basically a CBL TEASER TUESDAY works like this:

Grab your current read
• Share 2 “teaser” sentences from a random page or a part you rather enjoyed and post it as a teaser.
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away; you don’t want to ruin the book for others!
• As an option, you can give a short snippet of what you think so far... or not. That's optional.

• Share the TITLE and AUTHOR too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser.

Alexia Hammond, broken and destroyed by a tragedy she can’t seem to recover from, is on a downward spiral toward destruction.

A life of partying, alcohol, drugs and men has brought her near the edge of disaster.

That is until one night while at work as a waitress in an upscale restaurant, she falls under the spell of one of her customers, Pearce Middleton.

Once she gazes into his smoky gray eyes, her life takes on new meaning.

But can she put her past behind her and allow herself to fall for the exciting and gorgeous Pearce, or will her lewd behavior come back to haunt her and ruin her chances of happiness forever?

Title: Edge of Disaster

Author: A.M. Hargrove

Release Date: December 20th 2012

Series / Stand Alone: Stand Alone

Edge of Disaster
A.M. HargroveOne day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, A. M. Hargrove, realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn't do something soon, it would quickly be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life. So, she rolled down the passenger window of her fabulous (not) company car and tossed out her leather briefcase. Luckily, the pedestrian in the direct line of fire was a dodgeball pro and had über quick reflexes enabling him to avoid getting bashed in the head. Feeling a tad guilty about the near miss, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what lap top out the window. She breathed a liberating sigh of relief, picked up her cell phone and hit #4 on her speed dial.

"Hello."
"Boss, is that you?"
"Why yes, A. M., who else would be answering my phone?"
"Er... right. Well, I'm calling to let you know you can pick up my luxury Ford Focus at Starbucks near the interstate."
"Why ever would I want to do that?"
"Because I quit you idiot!"

A.M. hit the end button and speed dialed her husband.

"Hi hubs, can you pick me up at Starbucks?"
"Sure... Having some car trouble?"
"Not at all. I don't have a car to have trouble with because I just quit my job."
"WHAT?!"
"It's time for a new career and I am going to be a very famous novelist."

So began A. M. Hargrove's career as a young adult paranormal romance author of self-published ebooks. Her series, The Guardians of Vesturon, centers around a family of six siblings and is a mix of humor, mystery, suspense and of course, love. Survival is her first book in the series and her second, Resurrection will be released in January.
If you're wondering, it didn't happen EXACTLY that way, but....

You can do some online creeping and find A.M. Hargrove around the web at the following links:

Every muscle and bone in my body screamed.   I tried to move my mouth but the tape prevented that.   I leaned my head back against the wall and closed my eyes.   The pain was bad but the fear was worse. I was scared.   Heart pounding and gut wrenching scared.

Hours later but what seemed like days, I heard the door scrape open and a man appeared in front of me.   He was wearing a ski mask.   He reached for my arms and pulled me to my feet.   I was so stiff from sitting in that scrunched up position that I moaned when he moved me.

“You can save your moaning for later because there’ll be lots of it where we’re going.” I wanted to ask him questions, but I had that tape over my mouth so I couldn’t talk.

I tried but it was just a bunch of garbled stuff that came out.

“Look, do you mind if I get in?” “Er, no.” Oh God help me. I need strength around this man. He jogged around to the other side of the car and got in. Then he grinned. And I melted.
“I think they’ve been scheming to get us together.” I dropped my head down and blew out a breath.

And a little something extrrrra....
“I want to but I can’t... not until you know everything about me.   Then you’ll have to decide if you want to continue down this path Pearce.” “Then talk to me Alexia. Tell me what I need to know.” “Like this?” “Yes, like this. Here. Now.”

Some time ago I signed up to do a book tour for A.H. Hargrove's Dark Waltz and although I enjoyed the book to an extent... I wasn't 'in-love' with it and as always my review expressed exactly how I really felt.

Anyhoo... Now I don't know if she read my review of Dark Waltz or what, but I was so surprised when A.M. Hargrove emailed me, requesting I give her latest book a read.... and of course I immediately thought, if she did in fact read my previous review for her book... well then she has a LOT of guts asking me to give her new book a read and dissecting it as I do.  How many authors can say that they've done that?

Now, I don't have the stats or anything... but I'm going to take an educated guess and say - Not That Many I'm Sure...

Long Story Short...

So I checked the blurp and sent an email back saying "sure"... and that's how I got a hold of this book.

Now first off... this book is way more up my ally than what Dark Waltz was... so even before I opened the book... I was a little giddy. Yes... Giddy, but obviously concerned that it may not tickle me pink...

Anyway back to Teaser Tuesday's - My Opinion So Far...

I'm not far into this and I wish that the last couple of days haven't been as crazy busy for me as they have, because all I can think about is getting back to reading this book...

I'm intrigued, that's for sure. There are tiny butterflies flapping away in my stomach at the thought of getting back to reading this.

It's really good so far and I'm holding thumbs that it remains this way, because I need it to be a good book, like I need the air that I breathe or something equally as corny... Not for the authors sake, but solely for mine. (I'm selfish you see)

I'm in dire need of adding another 2013 Fav label to one of my book reviews... and so far... it's at the "Fa...." stage... I just need the "..v" and I'll be one happy lady :)

HAPPY TEASER TUESDAY! - It's only 3 Days until the weekend... Yay!
