Jet McAlister has a
secret. Eddie Chavez has the hots for Jet (not to mention Eddie’s just
plain hot). Jet has too many problems to realize that Eddie’s
interested. Eddie loses patience when Jet ends her waitressing shift at a
strip club with a knife at her throat. Since Eddie’s a cop, he figures
he can help. Since Jet’s used to solving everyone’s problems she doesn’t
want Eddie’s help.Throw in a Dolly Parton look-alike, a gruff but lovable strip club owner, Jet’s ne’er do well father, his ne’er do well friend, Bear, Bear’s long-suffering, chain-smoking wife Lavonne and the crew from Rock Chick and you’ve got Rock Chick Rescue.
Rock Chick Rescue takes you on a wild ride with Jet, Eddie and the gang as they wrestle bad guys in a bagel shop, hit Denver’s backstreet poker tables (with big hair), and help the strippers at Smithie’s take down a would-be murderer.
Through this, Jet’s got to learn that even when life made you give up your dreams, you can still end up with the (hot) guy. Eddie’s got to rescue Jet from a bad man (so he can do better things with her) and teach her that some dreams can come true.

My Review
With Rock Chick #1, I was happy that I was able to get my usual KA dose, even from a series I was hesitant to read at first. I was pretty satisfied with the outcome and thus had no problems to pick up the next book in this series. With that said… it's evident that during this series, I'm going to be having a heck of a lot of ups and downs. The first book was good, the second… not so much.
I don't know if it's just me, but I've noticed it for some time now, but never really thought to mention it. During this book, it become one of the nagging issues I just couldn't get around to understanding. This would be that none of the characters bath before they get into bed. They spend the entire day running around from what time of the morning and when it's time for bed, they just change into pj's and sleep. It's a little gross. Maybe it's just the way some people are… I'm not like that at all and it's really something that irks me. Think about it… if you are clean when you get into bed… your bed stays clean for longer. If you are dirty, then every night you roll around in all the sweat and dirt from the previous day and the day before that… no… it's gross.
Also… I felt disconnected from the characters. The only character I did particularly like was Eddie and of course the returns from the previous book such as Lee and Indy. But Jet… wasn't my type of character.
Jet was annoying as all hell. She whined constantly and the fact that she couldn't just stay on course with her decisions, drove me banana's. She was back and forth all the time. She was stubborn and definitely blind. It drove me insane… in fact I had to force my way through this book.
… I skimmed a lot.
Overall the book wasn't horrible, but it was frustrating. Again majority of the book was spent chasing criminals and the rock chick girls running haywire. The fact that Jet and Eddie didn't actually fall in love in this book was a complete shocker for me. I mean I know it was said… but it was only one-sided and THAT got to me too. That's unusual for KA books.
At this point I'm doing a double-take on my decision to pick up the next book in this serious. It's become obvious that it's more of a crime fighting tale with only a little bit of romance pushed into it. But I have seen that my other blogger friends enjoyed the next book (Book #3) far more than this one (Book #2), so I'm going to give it a go anyway. If the next book doesn't make me shiver in my boots, I'm giving up on this series.

Thanks for a good, honest review. Sometimes it's tough to do, but your readers appreciate it. With that being said, it sounds like I should start with book 1 and go from there. Thanks again & Merry Christmas!
